Marriage Equality for All !!!

The fiance and I are so excited to get married but this feeling has been dimmed by the recent passage of Proposition 8. We volunteered time and fought hard against this hateful measure but now we're all dealing with the reality that we have not yet reached marriage equality for all.

It is time to push harder for LGBTQ rights and straight allies need to get involved in the activism. Some great friends and activists have started, re-started and are bringing together the fights for equality across Los Angeles.

Engagement Photos by Friends

We didn't want to spend money on either Save the Date cards or Engagement Photos so we asked some of the bridesmaids (who have backgrounds in Photography) to take some photos and we sent out and E-Save the date. The photos were fun and the fiance was much more into it than I thought. He is a big ham!

Above are the pictures that didn't make it to the Save the Date. Aren't those bridesmaids useful? The fiance created a collage out of the photos which is the last photo. The collage was on our E-Save the Date.

Our Location

We've booked our ceremony and reception at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Its a beautiful space and we're looking forward to celebrating there next April! We struggled to find the right space cost-wise, distance-wise but its great to have everything in one place. This means no lost guests (older Korean guests especially) and a little alone time with my groom.

We both work in the social justice non-profit, organizing world so it was significant to us that the Cathedral has also hosted fundraisers for some of our favorite non-profits as well as supports the rights of workers (like the Labor Day Mass) and immigrant rights. For many ethnic communities in Los Angeles who are religious but have progressive politics, the Cathedral has provided spaces.

The countdown is on! My first blog post :)

I always wanted to fall in love and get married but I did not expect how difficult it would be to create a meaningful wedding that is true to ourselves.

I think we're trying our best despite that we're expecting over 250 loved ones.

So far we have the venue, the dress (but must lose a couple inches), the photographer, and the florist.

I am trying to put all the little details together which can drive me crazy but its been fun trying to be creative.

I've been reading all these great wedding blogs, listed here but it also seems like a great way to process what happens when amazing women plan for and enter the institution of marriage.
